Lady Cougars Compete at State Swim Meet!

Ada High swimmers will compete this weekend in Oklahoma City at the 2012 OSSAA State Swimming Championships hosted by the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center.

Five members of the squad have achieved the pre-established state qualifying times during OSSAA meets held since the varsity season officially began on Nov. 1 of last year.

James Tillison has qualified in five individual events, but due to the two-individual-event per person limit has chosen to compete in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly.

Kelli Hansen met the qualifying mark in the 100 yard back, making this her first individual state meet appearance in four years of varsity swimming.

Hansen along with teammates Derrek George, Claire Pottebaum, and Amelia Stevens will compete in the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

The Class 5A prelims take place Friday morning beginning at 10:15 a.m. The top 16 times in each event advance to the finals on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
