The Ada High School girls’ golf team, the only Class 4A entrant in the field, settled for 11th place in the 20-team Del City Tournament Monday at Trosper Park.

Norman North had a team score of 311, which was two strokes better than arch-rival Norman at 313. Tulsa Union ended up third at 317.

The Lady Cougars finished with a team score of 358.

“I was very impressed with the way we played at Trosper and very proud we competed against some of the best teams in the state,” said Ada head coach Ron Anderson. “The course is short and we played double-par max, but these low scores and holding our own against much bigger teams should give us a confidence boost as we get closer to regionals.”

Hannah Price topped the Lady Cougar scoring effort with an 87, followed by Kendal Wilson at 88, Taylor Durr at 90 and Meredeth McGill at 93. Teammate Lakshana Ramakrishnan withdrew from the event.

“I was happy for all of the girls but especially happy for Taylor Durr,” Anderson said. “She played her best, and I got to see her chip in on back-to-back holes (No. 9 and No. 10) for two birdies.”

Norman’s Yujeong Son edged out Norman North’s Kaiatlin Milligan in a card playoff for medalist honors as each fired an impressive 67. Norman North’s Isabella Caamal was third with a 72.

Ada plays Monday at Duncan in the Duncan Invitational.
