Lady Cougars Win At Pauls Valley

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Ada High School tennis teams cruised to first-place finishes Friday in the Pauls Valley Invitational held at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

The Ada girls tied for first with Elk City and claimed one title at No. 2 Singles to go with a second at No. 2 Doubles, a third at No. 1 Singles and a fourth at No. 1 Doubles.

Both Ada tennis teams will compete Friday in the Braver Invitational hosted by Heritage Hall High School.


The Lady Cougars’ Makayla Freeman earned the No. 2 Singles championship by knocking off Elk City’s Sidney Patrick, 5-7, 6-2, 10-7.

Ada’s No. 2 Doubles team of Maggie Summers and Ella Summers settled for second after falling to Elk City’s Barela and Whitten by a 6-2, 6-3 count.

At No. 1 Singles, the Lady Cougars’ Maggie Johnson took third place after claiming a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Elk City’s Michaela Hinshaw in her final match of the day.

Byng’s Bri Sanders and CeCe Sayre downed Ada’s Lauryn Hawkins and Ally Hawkins, 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 in the third-place match at No. 1 Doubles.
