McLOUD – The Ada High School girls and boys soccer teams rolled to pair of road victories Thursday, with a the Lady Cougars claiming a 3-2 decision and the Cougars coming away with an impressive 7-1 victory.
The games were originally scheduled to be played in Ada, but they were moved to McLoud in order for the teams to get to Oklahoma City in time to cheer on the Lady Cougar basketball team in the state tournament.
Ada 3, McLoud 2
Sadie Criswell tallied two goals, and Rumor Lejeune added the other as the Lady Cougars built a 3-1 halftime advantage and held on for the win.
One of Criswell’s goals came off a set piece from 30 yards out.
“We did some very good things in that game and are growing better each time we step on the field. I was happy with the effort they showed,” said Ada head coach Cole Jones. “Maycee Bottoms and Brianna Iorga held down the central zone of the defense.”
Ada 7, McLoud 1
Esaie Beam and Coleman Prince scored two goals each to fuel the Cougars to the massive six-goal win.
Payton Owen, Andrey Hinson and Daniel Gutierrez each scored once for Ada.
“I felt like they finally had a game where everything clicked for the first time. All players played unselfish and as a team. It ended up being a very good team win, and everyone contributed,” Jones said. “This team has great talent. If we can continue to work together and play like we did, we will be successful. Adrian Burden and Reese Hamilton continue to show good work in the middle of the defense.”
Both Ada squads were scheduled to play Weatherford on Friday.
