NORMAN – Payton Taylor took second in the high jump and Kylen Cooper was runner-up in the long jump to fuel the Ada High School effort in a Class 5A Regional Track Meet Saturday at Norman.
Taylor had a jump of 5 feet even, which was two inches off Del City’s Sidney Sapp, who captured top honors. Taylor will be making her fourth consecutive state tournament appearance.
On the boys side, Cooper had a leap of 20 feet, 9.50 inches as he finished behind Altus’ Shaquan French (21 feet, 2.50 inches).
The Cougars’ 4x200 Meter relay team of Cooper, Damion Jackson, Sheldon Hysten and Dominick Lowry finished third with a time of 1:32.65. Del City took first at 1:27.70, and Altus was second at 1:31.65.
Ada’s 4x100 Meter relay team also finished third in 44.73. The foursome includes Mannie Hammond, Cooper, Jackson and Hysten.
That group of Ada track athletes will compete in the Class 5A State track meet, scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Yukon.
