DUNCAN – The Ada High School boys golf team battled against cold, windy conditions and placed fourth in the Southern Oklahoma Invitational Thursday at the Duncan Golf Club.
Host Duncan won the event with a two-round team score of 631, followed by Tuttle at 650, Elk City at 655 and Ada at 669.
“I felt like we took a step backwards today. Conditions were a little difficult, especially early in the morning, but we need to do better at handling the conditions said Ada head coach Robbie Powell. “It was windy and the greens were very fast and we just did not adjust to the speed of the greens like we needed to.”
Matthew Brown topped the Ada effort with scores of 80 and 81 for a 161, followed by Max Roberts with a 164 (81-83), Aiden Plumlee with a 165 (78-87), Ryan Hagar with a 180 (89-91) and Ross Kemp with a 188 (98-90).
“We know for sure what we need to work on as we move into the last half of our schedule,” Powell said. “We will get that work done and be better the next time we play.”
The Cougars’ next tournament will be April 17 at the Buffalo Rock Golf Course in Cushing.
