Class 4A powerhouse Heritage Hall won the 2018 Tournament of Championship title on a cold, breezy Monday at the Oak Hill Golf and Country Club.
However, the Ada Cougars were nipping on the Chargers’ heels.
Heritage Hall finished with a team score of 300, and Ada was runner-up at 305. Plainview captured third place with a 308, while Kingfisher was next at 318.
Ada’s second team finished with a score of 367.
“I am really happy with the way the kids played today in very tough weather conditions. It was very cold and very wet, which made for a long, difficult day,” said Ada head coach Robbie Powell.
Plainview standout Tyler Neher won the medalist title with a 71, while Ada’s Matt Roberts was next at 73. Rounding out the top five were Will McDonald of Heritage Hall at 75, Peyton Burns of Kingfisher at 75 and Hardy Bowers of Heritage Hall at 76.
Ryan Hagar and Aiden Plumlee were next on the Ada list with 79s, while Ross Kemp turned in an 81. Matthew Brown carded an 83 for the Cougars.
“We all need to continue to improve in all areas, but especially chipping and putting. If we continue to get better in those two areas, we have a chance to be a really good team,” Powell said
Other Ada scores included Mack Weems, 93; Michael Huff, 94; Jake Laxton, 101 David Anderson, 101; and David Johnson, 102.
The Cougars return to action Thursday at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational, held at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.
