Taylor Byrd tallied two goals as the Ada Cougars rolled to a 3-1 home soccer victory over the visiting Harrah Panthers Tuesday night in a district clash.
One of Byrd’s goals came off an assist via a long punt from goalkeeper Hunter Wilson. The third Ada goal was an own-goal by Harrah, thanks to intense pressure from the Cougars at the top.
“Overall, I’m very pleased with how this team had grown from game to game,” said Ada boys head coach Cole Jones. “They come to practice every day looking to get better and do big things.”
The lone Harrah goal came off a penalty kick.
“The defensive line played well again, only allowing a goal from a penalty kick,” Jones said. “Hunter Wilson had some very acrobatic saves and also saved a penalty kick in the game.”
Jones praised the play of Isaac Cruz, Coleman Prince, Salvador Vallin, Joseph Feezel and Tyde Thomsen.
“Isaac Cruz played another great game with several great shots and passes. Coleman Prince and Salvador Vallin had their hands full taking care of Harrah’s speedy, talented midfield,” said Jones. “Joseph Feezel and Tyde Thomsen had their best games of the year, also with better touches and runs.”
Ada plays Friday at Madill in a district contest.
