04/27/19 -

TECUMSEH — Kane Ainesworth hit a two-out, walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to help host Tecumseh clip Ada 7-6 in Game 1 of the Class 4A Bi-District Tournament Thursday afternoon.

The Savages completed the sweep with a 13-4 win in game 2 to secure the Bi-District championship.

Tecumseh advances to a Class 4A Regional Tournament with a 23-11 record, while Ada ends the season at 17-18.

Game 1

The Cougars had knotted the score at 6-6 with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Ada scored the first run of that inning after four consecutive walks. Cade Sliger hit a two-out, two-RBI single to tie the game.

Tecumseh’s Tristin Anthony reached on an Ada error with one out in the bottom of the seventh and advanced all the way to second on the play. With two outs, Ainesworth hit a single to right field that plated the winning run for the Savages.

Tecumseh relief pitcher Tyler Thompson earned the mound win in relief. He struck out five of the seven batters he faced to close out the game.

Braden Maloy led the Ada offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jaycob Gray and Ryan Hagar both finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Bo Charboneau and John David Muse had Ada’s only other hits.

Tecumseh managed just five hits by five different players. Gage Boatman went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. Jake Trice finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored for the hosts.

Zac Carroll started on the mound for Ada. He walked four and allowed three earned runs in two innings. Hunter Condon pitched the final 4.2 frames with five strikeouts and two walks and surrendered no earned runs in absorbing the hard-luck loss. Ada committed four errors in the contest.

Game 2

Tecumseh 13, Ada 4

Ada scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab the early lead.

Bo Charboneau, Zac Carroll and Manny LaValley hit consecutive singles that produced the first Ada run. Cade Sliger followed with a run-scoring single to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.

After LaValley was picked off third following a base hit by Braden Maloy, John David Muse walked to load the bases. Ryan Hagar then walked to force in a run and make it 3-0.

The Savage took control with a six-run outburst in the top of the second inning.

Caleb Kelsey delivered the big blow, a two-RBI single.

Zac Carroll scored a run via an error in the bottom of the fourth inning to get the Cougars within 6-4, but Tecumseh put the game out of reach with five runs in the top of the sixth.

LaValley led an eight-hit Ada offense, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Ryan Hagar went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk, and Muse went 1-for-1 with two walks. Carroll had a hit and scored twice for the Cougars, while Bo Charboneau and Cade Sliger also had singles.

Kane Ainsworth led a 10-hit Tecumseh attack with a 3-for-5 effort that included two RBIs and a run scored. Kelsey also had a big day at the plate for Tecumseh, going 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored.
