MADILL — The Ada High softball team scored six runs in the top of the third inning and held off host Madill 10-6 in the first game of a District 4A-3 doubleheader Tuesday night.
It was easy does it for Ada in Game 2. Alyssa Colungo and the Lady Cougars shut out the Lady Wildcats 8-0 to complete the sweep.
Ada improved to 5-9 on the season, while Madill dropped to 5-14. It was the Lady Cougars first two district wins of the fall.

Ada junior Daryn Allison belted a two-RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Lady Cougars a seemingly comfortable 10-3 lead. But things got uncomfortable in a hurry in the bottom of the seventh.
The Lady Wildcats started a rally with a double, a single and three consecutive walks — all with no outs — to trim the Ada advantage to 10-5.
Ximena Gomez followed with an RBI single for MHS to get the hosts within 10-6 with the bases still loaded.
Ada got out of the jam via a pop out to shorstop, an out at home plate and a nice catch by center fielder Haley Watkins that ended the game.
“Kaley made a great catch,” said Ada head coach Taylor Canida-Henry. “We started slow but really battled and dug in.”
Madill led 3-0 after two innings before the Lady Cougars scored six runs in the top of the third inning to take control. That volley included a clutch two-RBI double by Avery Brown and three of seven Madill errors in the game.
Ada added single runs in the fourth and sixth inning to set up the drama in the seventh.
Watkins finished 3-for-4 to pace a 10-hit Ada offense. Allison, MaKenzi Marion and Madison Wilson added two hits apiece. Marion also scored three runs. Amaya Frizell went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Kayli Sweet and Mia Beason both had two hits for Madill, while MaKenzie Reed finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Both of Beason’s hit were doubles, and Sweet also had a two-bagger.

Ada hurler Alyssa Colungo struck out two, didn’t have a walk and scattered three hits in six inning of work.
Kaley Watkins had another big day at the plate for the Lady Cougars, going 3-for-4 with a triple. Torri Bray went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double.
Ada also got three hits from both Madison Wilson and Daryn Allison.
“Colungo pitched great this game. We fought and won a doubleheader. It was huge for our team,” Canida said.
