The Seminole Lady Chieftains took advantage of seven Ada errors and used back-to-back five-run innings to pull away from the Lady Cougars 12-0 on Senior Night Tuesday at the Ada High Softball Complex.
During a postgame ceremony, Ada fans said goodbyes to seniors Colbi Hargus and Presley Hayes.
“We’re going to miss those girls a lot next year,” said Ada head coach Pete Benes. “Colbi’s been a good leader for us. Presley’s came back to help us last week and will help us in the playoffs too.”
Alyssa Colungo had Ada’s other hit, a single to lead off the third inning. She advanced to second on a bunt by Avery Brown, but she too was stranded in scoring position.
That’s all the offense the Lady Cougars could muster against Harjo, who struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter in the five-inning affair.
The game was scoreless for two innings before Seminole got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning.
After a single by Skylar Howard, a double from Karlie Sneed put runners at second and third. Howard would score on a fielder’s choice, and Sneed raced home on an RBI hit by Sheridan Daniels that put Seminole on top 2-0.
The Lady Chieftains then scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning and tacked on five more in the top of the fifth.
The fourth-inning outburst by Seminole included a two-run double by Destiny Tiger and an RBI single by Sneed, who finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Seminole had only two hits in the fifth-inning outburst, including an RBI single from Aubree Powell. That inning also included four Ada miscues.
Tiger finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Howard added two hits and scored three times.
