Cougar Tennis Captures Fourth Title This Spring
04/17/19 -

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Ada High School boys tennis team continues to roll right along this spring.

The Cougars captured first place at the Guthrie Tournament Monday at the Oklahoma City Tennis Tournament and won their fourth team title so far this season.

Ada also won team championships at Carl Albert, Duncan and Yukon and were runners-up in their own rugged tournament.

The Cougars piled up 62 team points while Crossing Christian was next at 55. Duncan was third with 50 points, Christian Heritage was fourth at 48 and the Byng Pirates settled in at the fifth spot with 44.

Ada won three individual championships at the tournament.

In No. 2 Singles, Jonathan Cloar won the title after Christian Heritage’s Eli Thomas had to withdraw due to injury.

The Ada team of Reese Siegle and Landon Swopes rallied past Braden Lewis and Taylor Rains of Duncan 4-6, 6-2, 12-10 to claim the No. 1 Doubles crown.

In No. 2 Doubles, Ada’s Ryan McCortney and Noah Watkins rolled past the Crossing Christian pair of Glark and Dillon 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match.

Ada’s Christian Siegle advanced to the finals in No. 1 Singles before he dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Daniel Haley of Crossings Christian.

The Lady Cougars compete in the Guthrie Tournament today, while the Ada boys are off until an April 26 trip to the Heritage Hall Braver Tournament.
